The MTN-Fuba League men’s First Division will have 11 teams next season.

This is after the sport’s governing body, Fuba, decided to retain KCC Lions and UCU Canons in the division. One of the two teams had to be relegated to the lower tier but a row over their rescheduled game has ensured they both stay up.

Knight Riders, who finished bottom of the 10-team table, will be relegated to Second Division. The top two teams in the lower division; St Michael and Berkley will be promoted to First Division, bringing the number to 11.

“Basketball is a fast-growing game and we don’t want to be seen fighting over small issues,” Fuba president Ambrose Tashobya, said in regard to the KCC-UCU issue that had seen them twice dragged to National Council of Sports (NCS).

“We are still working out the modalities but no team will be relegated,” he said.
