APR’s task at this year’s Fiba-Africa Club Championship has been toughened after the inclusion of another Angolan team-ASA.

ASA, who registered a 13-point win over the Indomitable Lions in last year’s edition held in Tunisia have replaced Kenya Port Authority (KPA) in Pool A which also comprises of 2006 champions Petro Atletico, Nigeria’s Kano Pillars and DRC’s ASB Mazembe.

ASA’s inclusion takes the number of Angolan teams in the competition to three. Four-time champions Primeiro de Agosto and Petro Atletico are the other teams.

APR’s head coach Cliff Owuor is meanwhile happy with the group stage fixtures. APR open their campaign with Mazembe this Sunday.

They then play Kano Pillars on Monday before winding up with back to back fixtures against ASA (December 17) and Petro Atletico (December 18).

“According to the fixtures, we play ASA and Petro last so this gives us ample time to study them and prepare ourselves accordingly,” the Kenyan coach noted.
