Cedric Isom Tuesday power his team, APR Lions basketball club of Rwanda to a third place finish beating ASB Mazembe basketball club of Democratic Republic of Congo by 92-80 points in the 24th FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men.
Isom recorded 37 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds to give his side a well deserved victory over the Congolese side who had rallied to and early lead of 22-16 and 23-21 of the first two quarters of the explosive game going into the break with a 45-37 points advantage.
The home side backed by vociferous fans roared back to live in the third quarter curtailing the Congolese spurred on by forward Mbav Kabwit who record 26 points and 9 rebounds to pick the quarter at 20-21 to take a slim one point advantage into the last quarter and continued the bombardment of the Mazembe side with barrage of three points play by Isom who was on fire for his side.
APR Lions against picked the last quarter by 25-14 points for a final score-line of 92-80 points enough to give the bronze of the competition and an upward push from last year sixth place finishing they had in Tunisia.
Isom was joined by fellow point guard, Mathew Miller with 21 points and 3 assists, Robert Thomson who seem to be absent in the early part of the game recorded a double double of 13 rebounds and 10 points while Michael Bazangu added 12 points and 7 rebounds.
