In the first two days of this season’s Basketball Championship, defending champions Nasser met with mixed fortunes, starting the campaign with a an easy victory, but then losing the next game.
AS expected they found little opposition on the opening day and convincingly beat Madina by a clear margin of 38 points - 93-55. It was also the first day’s widest margin between two teams.
The most balanced tie was played out in Benghazi where home team Al-Ahli defeated Alshabab 83-78, while the Wahda v Hilal game was poorly played and produced a low-score tie that was won 43-33 by Hilal.
The Al-Ahli (Tripoli) v Ittihad match scheduled for the opening day was postponed to December 8.
On the second day Nasser met thier waterloo when they were deefeated by 12 points by Wahda for a final result of 82-70.
The only two teams to win both matches were Alshabab and Al-Hilal. The former followed the first day’s success with another victory, this time agaisnt AHli Tripoli, inflicting a defeat on their opponents who were making their seasonal debut, while Hilal defeated Ahli Benghazi.
