24th FIBA Africa Champions Club for men : Day 1: Coop Bank scraps past Warriors 71-70

A second half spirited effort could not save Inter-club basketball club of Congo Brazzaville from defeat in the hand of defending champion of Africa biggest club competition for Men, Primeiro d’Agosto basketball club of Angola in a group-B game played Sunday night in Kigali, Rwanda.

The defending champion had raced to a comfortable first two quarters lead opening up a wide 38 points lead of 61-23 after winning the quarters 30-08 and 31-15 before the break.

Inter-club tried to fight back at the resumption of play in the third quarter with a great ability not to give up easily but still lost the quarter by 31-24 to enter the last quarter with a 92-47 points deficit but manage to pick the last quarter by 27-23 points for a cumulative score-line of 115-74 points.
Agosto Carlos Almeida led the floor with 24 points, Vladmir Jeronimo added 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists while the quartet of Armando Costa, Mario Correia, Filipe Abraao and Adilson Baza contributed 11 points, 6 assist; 11 points, 4 rebounds; 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 10 points respectively for their side convincing win.

While Inter-club Bruno Nguia led his side with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, Damely Boungou added 14 points and 4 rebounds and Bertrand Boukinda contributed 10 points.
