Serengeti Breweries Company (SBC) under 7UP banner plans to revive basketball, which lost grip after withdrawal of long time sponsors, TBL.
Company's national marketing manager Vic Ramil disclosed yesterday that their sponsorship would start with effect from next year.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 7UP Basketball Gala at Mlimani City, Ramil said his firm had already devised apt strategies which would help lift the sport to the desired level.
The TBL ended their support to Dar es Salaam Basketball (BD) this season and no any high profile tournament was staged.
"We will work closely with Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), hopefully our involvement in basketball will bear fruits," he said.
Even as the official pledged the support, he declined to mention areas his firm would start supporting.
Newly elected secretary general of the TBF, Alexander Msofe hinted that the sponsors would dish out money to support the National Basketball League (NBL) and Taifa Cup.
"These are our major annual tournaments, thus we believe they will help stage them," he said.
The withdrawal of the TBL dealt a big blow to the recently inaugurated RBA League.
Various basketball enthusiasts lavished praises on the SBCs decision to promote basketball.
