MAZEMBE of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will test the might of host club, APR of Rwanda in Group-A’s opening game at 5pm at Amahoro’s Indoor Stadium.
APR head coach Cliff Owuor reckons that a good start from his indomitable lions is ideal if the team is to have a good run in the competition which is still rated as Africa’s most prestigious club competition.
Earlier in the day, defending champion Primeiro de Agosto of Angola open their title defence against Congo Brazzaville’s Interclub.
The Group-B opening game is a huge test for Interclub who are up against the Angolans who are chasing for a fifth continental title.
The other group-B pairing is between Cooperative Bank of Kenya and Warriors basketball club of Uganda at 3pm.
The final game of the day is an Angolan affair as 2006 champions Petro Atletico clash with Atletico Sports Aviation (ASA) at 7pm.
