24th FIBA Africa Champions Club for men : Day 1: ASB Mazembe surrenders to APR Lions 59-91

ASB Mazembe basketball club of Democratic Republic of Congo Sunday game up a wonderful first-half display to surrender to home team, APR Lions basketball club of Rwanda in the opening day of the 24th FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men going down by 91-59 points after a 30 points apiece at the close of the first two quarters.
The home side won the first quarter by 14-13 points but the Congolese side replied with the same one points’ win of 17-16 points in the second quarter to go into the break with 30 points apiece.

The audacity of the Mazembe players seems to wake the APR side back to live at the resumption of play in the third quarter raiding the Congolese area both on the offense and defense winning the third and fourth quarter with a wide margin of 29-17 and 32-12 points respectively.
APR Cedric Isom led the floor with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds, Andrew Francis contributed a double double effort of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Robert Thomson added 14 points and 6 rebounds to complete the defeat of the ASB Mazembe.

Mazembe’s Mbav Kabwit had a beautiful game with 13 rebounds and 10 points, Mudiandambo Kayembe also had a double double of 10 points and 10 rebounds with Tshmanga Kabangu scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds.
