Interclub basketball club of Congo Brazzaville Tuesday beat Cooperative Bank basketball club of Kenya to the seventh position of the final round of the 2009 edition of FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men.
The Brazzaville-based side won the first, third and fourth quarters by 21-13, 17-13 and 20-17 leaving the Kenya to run away with a 25-19 points win in the second quarter for a cumulative score-line of 77-68 points.
Interclub Frank Mbatchi led the floor with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steal to set the tune for his side victory.
His compatriot, Chris Silas recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds while Damely Boungou added 13 points and 4 rebound just as Ayman Konozy grabbed 11 rebounds for his side.
Cooperative Bank Ocheng Ajik led his team with 15 points and 8 rebounds, Moses Kamou contributed 15 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steal with Peter Karuri adding 13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and one block-shot.
Cooperative Bank basketball club, thus ending the 2009 FIBA Africa season as the continent eight best club side.
