The LK Boys were unable to defend the late Pa Modou Sarr Memorial Basketball tournament they won last year. The YMCA Basketball team won the fifth edition in the finals on Saturday against Serekunda East.
The final that was played at the Serekunda West Basketball lawn saw the YMCA narrowly defeated their Serekunda East opponents by 39 points to 38.
The late Pa Modou Sarr Basketball tourney is an eight team tournament played annually for the past five years in respect of the former Gambia and YMCA Basketball player Pa Modou Sarr.
Pa Modou Sarr died in a car crash in the United States of America in 2004 and “the family and friends used the tourney to remember him” Abdoulie Secka member of the organizing committee told Gambia Sports Online.
The eight participating teams for this year’s edition were, Wallidan, Jeshwang, Serekunda West, Serekunda East, Lamin, Presentation, YMCA and last year’s winners the LK Boys.
