Petro Atletico basketball club of Angola Wednesday sees off a stiff challenge from Nigeria Kano Pillars basketball club with an 83-74 point’s victory in the Day-4 of the 24th FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men in Kigali, Rwanda.
Petro urged on by Angola national team player, Eduardo Mingas rose from a first quarter 21-14 points lose to subdue the Nigerian side winning the three many quarters by 21-12, 25-19 and 23-22 points for it second straight win in the final round of the 2009 edition.
Mingas went on to record 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steal, Curtis Terry added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists while Francisco Horacio contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds.
Kano Pillars’ guard, Abubakar Usman led his side with 17 points, 2 assists and 2 steal with forward, Dennis Ebikoro adding 15 points and 4 rebounds.
Petro will battle home side, APR Lions Thursday for the top spot in the group at 17h00 while Pillars in search of a win in the group will file out against Democratic Republic of Congo ASB Mazembe basketball club at 15h00.
