Both teams still have a realistic chance of reaching the MTN-Fuba League post-season but the victor today stands a higher chance. The stakes make tonight’s encounter between Miracle Eagles and Nkumba Marines at YMCA court a must-win for either team.
Miracle ended their three-match losing streak by beating Knight Riders three weeks ago and followed proceedings closely as Marines fell to Warriors 68-80 on Wednesday night. Marines, despite having won four times in seven outings, must be crestfallen following their second collapse against Warriors. They had a 36-33 lead going into halftime but Warriors levelled at 59-all before winning the final session 21-9.
Tonight, the Marines must turn up in an alert mood if they are to stop their former teammates Boniface Okello and Paul Mwaka, who crossed to Miracle this season. Miracle have also brought on board former Marines’ guard Barnes Ankunda to boost their coaching department. His presence on the Eagles’ bench will add more excitement to the clash.
