Lithuania smashed Angola in FIBA U19 World Championship for the initial victory in the group. The Baltic side posted 104:46 victory to tie their record at 1-1.
Lithuania opened the game with 31:15 and of course never looked behind after. The favorites added 27-6 in the second period and could celebrate the victory at that time. Angola started to play better in the second half but was too far to reach the winners. Lithuania had 21-10 in the third period and 25-15 to finish the game.
Gediminas Orelikas (200-G/F-90) and Donatas Motiejunas paced all the winners with 23 points for 1-1 record. Matas Sapiega (180-G-90) netted 15 and Rokas Simkevicus scored 14. Josemar Carvalho (193-F-90) was the only player in defeat to have double digit scoring 10 points.
Lithuania outrebounded Angola 41-30, handing out 22 assists to 6 and collecting 9 steals to 5. From the field the Europeans shot 59% to the Africans 25%.
In another game of the group Greece U19 became the most offensive team in Day 2 as they nailed 107 points versus 98 from Puerto Rico U19. The European team celebrated the second straight victory in FIBA U19 World Championship. Puerto Rico faces Angola tomorrow with a chance to lock up second place in Group A. Greece play Lithuania and in case of win will finish first in the group.
