There can’t be a better opportunity for Kampala International University (KIU) to get their MTN-Fuba League season back on track than facing KCC Lions.

KIU have had arguably their worst start to the season, winning only twice from seven outings. Before they defeated Ndejje University Angels last week, relegation had actually started knocking on their door but Nimrod Kaboha’s boys have now breathed a sigh of relief.

“We need to win our last three games of first round to get back into play-off contention,” noted senior player Mandy Juruni after KIU were thrashed 102-78 by champions DMark Power a fortnight ago.

They have now nipped one and today there is a realistic chance to add another. But KIU are well aware that KCC Lions can at times be stubborn especially when faced with relegation. The Mayor’s team survived relegation last season by pulling off a memorable upset against Nkumba Marines and getting maximum points against KIU by forfeiture. Both teams badly need victory today and there is no chance for a walkover.
