NIGERIA : Sunshine Angels dare Dolphins in battle of equals

KADUNA (Zenith Bank Female League) - Sunshine Angels coach Andrew Isokpehi is quite confident that his ladies will rule over the Dolphins when both teams battle in the Zenith Bank League. Both teams are scheduled to meet on Monday in Kaduna in the third match of the day as the women’s Premier League plays into Day 5. Isokpehi who spoke with FIBA at the competition venue yesterday says his ladies are better prepared for the current challenge.

“To predict the margin is definitely a very tall challenge but what we are sure of is that we can take that game. It will be a very tough match going by the level of both teams but we have seen enough of them this season to make us quite confident of beating them. We have a better offense and indeed a better approach to the game this time compared to the quality of our opponents last season,” Isokpehi said.

Both teams are fairly matched in every standard and it is believed that both teams could be playing for the third and fourth positions as the defending champions First Bank and Deepwater teams are clear favourites for the top two finish. The winner of the match between Dolphins and Sunshine would take a head-on advantage before the next two stages of the league.

In he first match of Sunday, Dolphins gave a clear signal to what they could do against the Sunshine ladies a 76-36 flogging of the FCT Queens. Dolphins dominated the match from the start to finish. But despite the display of the Dolphins the Sunshine ladies are still hopeful as their coach indeed spoke moments after Dolphins win over the FCT team.

For FCT Queens, yesterday’s beating was just a continuation of the numerous they have suffered in the league. They played the last match of Saturday and were beaten 82-28 by Deepwater.

In other matches of Monday AHIP Queens will take on Plateau Rocks as the first match of the day. First Bank will face former rivals Customs in the second match before the FCT match against Immigration. Deepwater and Delta Force will play the final match of the day.
