Miracle Eagles and Knight Riders, two basketball teams that have endured mixed fortunes in the MTN-FUBA League so far, go head to head with intent of improving their records today at YMCA.
The Eagles, potent with a championship winning squad in their ranks, have flattered and need to ignite a consistent run to warrant themselves an inevitable play-off spot.
The Lubaga-based side lost to Ndejje in their last outing and vividly know that losing a second successive game won’t do their fortunes any good.
Riders won their first game of the season when they defeated Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono last Sunday but Miracle point-guard Yahaya Kalyesubula is positive they will reign on the day.
“We have been working hard as a team with our new coach Barnes Ankunda (formerly of DMark Power) and we are ready to show our true potential. Riders won’t be an easy game like many people think,” cautioned Kalyesubula, who has also just joined Miracle from free-falling giants Charging Rhinos.
In Ivan Mutabaazi, Collin Mukiza and John Musoke Riders have a formidable shooting trio that has frightened in tense defeats to Power (96-104) and Warriors (85-74). Miracle, with a technical bench that has Ankunda and former MVP Sam Obal and is regarded as the best in the league, will bank on superior tactical nous and Chris Kyebambe who is in a free-scoring mood.
In the ladies category, 2007 champions A-1 Challenge, who preserved their unbeaten streak on Wednesday night with a 61-52 win over Kampala International University (KIU), will be in the fray hunting for maximum points against Seroma High.
KCC will also take on a student-packed Nabisunsa outfit in one of the three games on card.
