KENYA : KPA sides face stern tests from visiting Wings and Posta

Kenya Ports Authority men and women’s teams will for the second time host their opponents from Nairobi in Mombasa with the first ever Premier League fixture scheduled for Meru this weekend.

On Saturday, the dockwomen, who are still unbeaten in the three matches, will be at their traditional KPA Makande gymnasium against visiting Eagle Wings at 2pm.

KPA led by veterans Irene Murambi, Agnes Anyango and upcoming Hellen Oketch, have had enough time to prepare after their tour of Nairobi which saw them demolish Yana 75-31.

Eagle Wings, boosted by the longest women’s servicing coach Thomas “Smarts’’ Olumbo, have everything in experience and shattering KPA’s unbeaten run should not come as a surprise.
Having taught newcomers Mennonites a lesson with a 60-32 win in Nairobi, Caroline “Majeng’’ Achieng, Rebecca Sarange and Eunice Ouma have nothing to fear against the home side.
Impressive guard Dan Okwiri left a name in Nairobi when KPA men’s team hit Co-operative Bank 68-44. The dockmen’s tie against Posta this afternoon must have a different approach.

Fireworks

Coach Ronnie Owino’s Posta is among the strongest teams this year having threatened champions Kenya Commercial Bank Lions before falling narrowly 59-57.
KPA’s Patrick Kirui, Musa Odari and upcoming Geofrey Omondi should expect fireworks from Posta’s Ben Oluoch and shooting star Franklin Delano.

At the Nyayo Stadium, fans should expect the match of the season when International Christian Centre takes on the struggling Co-operative Bank on Saturday from 4pm.
ICC are in a class of their own having set a record of entering a century mark when they thrashed Terrorists 101-45.
Coach Bosire Bogonko needs an answer to ball wizards Philip Dinga, Griffins Ligare and Nelson Njau of ICC.
