TANZANIA : CMTU beat Hooplife in basketball tournament

CMTU ran over newcomers Hooplife Queens after drubbing them 29-10 points in the Dar es Salaam Dream Cup basketball match at the National Indoor Stadium yesterday.

The winners started the match at a high tempo and managed to chalk up 17-4 points until halftime. Mgeni Kiota of CMTU was a constant threat to the Queens as she scored 10 points followed by her teammate Jamila Seif who managed nine baskets.

The Queens relied on Helena Mwasunda who scored eight points while Asia Bakari added three more points wrap up their score.

In other matches, Tanblacks pulverized hapless Sinza Warriors 73-37 points in a one-sided encounter. Kanyota Mgawe and Arnold Harold were stars of the match after posting 23 and 21points respectively.

Charles Marcel and Emanuel Kifusi displayed great ability after netting 12 and 10 points respectively despite their team succumbing to a humiliating defeat.

Until yesterday, Chang�ombe United and Tanblacks were jointly leading the league table after winning their first two games.

Today, Chang�ombe take on Tanblacks in a match which would give a clear picture of the likeliest teams to qualify for the premier league. The best four teams in the tournament will seal their berths in the premier league dubbed
