Before the MTN-Fuba League started, DMark Power made it clear they wanted to go unbeaten. That goal is now nearing reality. The men’s topflight league defending champions outclassed lowly KCC Lions 92-63 on Saturday night at Lugogo Indoor Stadium to make it eight out of eight.

It’s one game left for the DMark Mobile-sponsored team to complete round one unbeaten yet they are comfortably seated on top of the 10-team table. Warriors are in second place with six-time champions Falcons trailing closely. With the Africa Zone 5 Club Championships looming large, Peter Mubanda’s side can’t claim to be low on confidence. A game high 25 points from reigning Most Valuable Player.
(MVP) Ben Komakech is all Power needed to inhale the battle-hardened KCC Lions, who are once again brushing shoulders with relegation.

Joseph Ikong garnered 16 points and Norman Blick contributed 13 for Power. Michael Opolot was KCC’s top scorer on the night with 23 while Moses Okwera added 15. The Power game was preceded by a boring one-sided affair between Makerere Sparks and women record champions Lady Bucks. Spurred on by Hellen Nakijjo’s 25 points and Carol Nyafono’s 23, Sparks outplayed and embarrassed the depleted Lady Bucks 100-31.

Earlier in day, Livingstone had overcome the absence of their suspended captain Abel Emwodu to defeat Second Division giants Bushcourt 79-75 in an exciting encounter.
