AS APR basketball club continue their hunt for a mega signing, the club has signed CSK’s Gerol Ndugu to boost their offensive play. Ndugu, who has been CSK’s top player over the last two seasons, joined the Indomitable Lions early this week.
“He brings a lot to the team. He is a good offensive player. Last year, he averaged 15 points a game for CSK so if he can do that here, he will be a handful for us,” Owuor said.
Ndugu is expected to fill the void left by Gedeka Bunene Kajeguhakwa and Aboubacar Barame. The duo joined bitter rivals Marine in the off-season.
The shooting forward, who can also play as a two-man (shooting guard) is expected to walk straight into APR’s starting five this weekend when the reigning champions take on in the National Basketball League.
This year, APR are gunning for their fourth league title under Cliff Owuor. The Kenyan guided the club to the title in his debut season (2005).
APR retained the title in 2006 before losing it to Marine.
APR regained it last year.
Since 2005, Owuor has also turned the army side into a regional basketball force after winning back to back Zone V Club Championships in 2007 and 2008.
