FALCONS star player and assistant coach Steven Omony is relishing the prospect of renewing hostilities against Abdullahi Ramadan when his team battles the Kyambogo Warriors in the men’s basketball first division tomorrow.
The rivals meet at Lugogo in a clash that will see Omony potentially guard the Warriors new signing and a player he faced countless times during his nine-year stint in the Seychelles.
Omony turned out for the PSL Hawks whose main rivals were Ramadan’s Premium Cobra. During that time the two players won three championships apiece, with both Omony and Ramadan claiming the MVP award at least once.
Now they face off in Omony’s homeland but the 29 year-old does not believe he has a head-start.
“I don’t think have the advantage although I have played here before,” Omony said.
Omony added that he is looking forward to taking on a player he described as “complete”. He said: “Facing him is good because it will challenge me to raise my game.”
The Warriors signed Ramadan along with Kenya national team point guard Martin Okwako last Friday for undisclosed fees. The Kenyan featured in their 90-88 loss to Dmark Power later that day.
