JKT thumped ABC 67-57 points to win the National Basketball League (NBL) title in an enthralling men's final encounter at CCM Kirumba Stadium court in Mwanza yesterday.
ABC who were the defending champions and JKT reached the final after winning all matches played in a round robin format.
JKT started with real intent to clinch the title and finished the first quarter leading 19-1. Until halftime they were leading 37-30.
Led by Gilbert Batungi, ABC fought relentlessly in a bid to reduce the margin and their efforts paid off as they managed to reduce JKT�s lead to 49-46 at this stage.
JKT�s top marksman Charles Makene and Juma Kisoky were unstoppable.
Makene emerged the top scorer after posting 17 points followed by Kisoky who chalked up 10 points.
Gilbert Batungi netted 24 points for ABC while his team-mate Lusajo Samuel penned 7 points.
JKT head coach Tubert Matiku went home smiling after fulfilling his dream.
"Eventually, we have won the throne after missing it last season," said the enchanted coach.
JKT lost their NBL throne to ABC last year when financial constraints forced them to withdraw from the tournament.
