Action speaks louder than words, they say. That’s the philosophy MTN-Fuba League defending champions DMark Power are sticking to going into the final game of the first round.

The three-time champions face Kampala International University (KIU) at Lugogo Indoor Stadium tonight hoping to stretch their winning streak to nine games.

The DMark Mobile-sponsored team started the season with an aim of winning all their games but Power technical director Peter Mubanda isn’t taking his opponents tonight for granted. Asked if he feels the team can finish the season unbeaten, Mubanda said; “I won’t go into that.

We are taking it a game at a time.” KIU, the team with arguably the most talented players in the league, have been disappointing this season winning only once in five outings.

But with their array of stars including Michael Karuiki, Markmort Orom and Jeff Mwaniki, the Kasanga-based side can upset any team on a good day. And although many would give them no chance against Power, KIU are always full of surprises yet they desperately need to halt their poor run.

Winless in five games, Knight Riders have an opportunity to get off the mark when they face Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons in the day’s first game. The Entebbe-based Riders have not played at the Lugogo indoor stadium, which has put them on a collision path with the basketball federation technical committee.

Riders argue that the technical committee ‘favours’ other teams at their expense. KCC Leopards face KIU Rangers in the women’s only game.
