Defending MTN-Fuba basketball league champions DMark Power proved that they are the team to beat this season with a pulsating 102-92 win over Miracle Eagles at the YMCA Courts in Wandegeya on Wednesday.

The Rubaga based-side coached by former Falcons star Sam Obol was in control right from the start, winning three quarters as star player Solomon Ssali had a game high 21 points, but they needed miracles in the fourth quarter as Power saved the best for last.

Ssali’s efforts were duly complimented by sublime performances by Robert Mubiru (15 points) and Olaba Felix (14 points), but these heroic performances were just about to wane at the hands of a resurgent Power team who after catching up at 80 points never looked back.

The depth and quality of the Power squad proved the difference as Miracles failed to counter consistent pressure in swift moves orchestrated by the Club’s record signing Norman Blick and reigning MVP Ben Komakech giving Isaac Afidra (18 points), Allan Tawoda (16 points) and Joseph Ikong (15 points), a platform to kill off the game in the final quarter.

“This is a true mark of champions, we remained focused throughout the game and in the end they couldn’t stop our pressing game because we have players that can do the job.” Tawoda said.

However Power’s credentials will come under another stern test when they face UCU Canons today.
