Over 30 schools have confirmed to compete in this year's Secondary School Basketball League (SBL) set to tee off in the first week of July at the National Indoor Stadium.
Tournament's coordinator said the event is exclusive for the Dar es Salaam-based secondary schools and would feature both boys and girls sides.
He said this year's entry has seen an increase in the number of schools for more than 30 percent.
"SBL is the greatest basketball tournament for junior players and has been the main provider of talented players for the various Dar es Salaam premier league teams," he said.
In this year's tournament, the organisers planned to find sponsors for 20 teams, 10 girls� and 10 boys' teams.
He said the winners of both disciplines would secure tickets to represent the country in the East African Inter-Secondary School tournament to be held in Kenya.
Adding further, Zablon said the best four teams would feature in the Uhuru Cup Basketball League that takes place annually on December 9 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The schools listed for the tournament include; the defending champions AHMES and Shaaban Roberts while, Azania, Zanaki, Jangwani, Mbezi Beach, Loyola, Jitegemee, Tegeta, St Mary's and Benjamin Mkapa are some of the prominent teams in the league.
