For the third time, an MTN-Fuba League fixture involving Ndejje University Angels was on Sunday called off at the last minute.

Coach Walker Obedi’s charges were scheduled to face Kampala International University (KIU) at YMCA but the local basketball body, Fuba, couldn’t allow the game to take place.

The federation is scared of the now rampant swine flu. Cases of the HINI virus have been reported at Ndejje Secondary School. The university is in the vicinity of the school.

“The health authorities (in Luwero) told us to keep the Ndejje team out of action for at least nine days,” Fuba assistant general secretary Joseph Manano told Daily Monitor yesterday. “They said the virus has an incubation period of nine days.”

Fuba earlier last week postoned the Ndejje-DMark Power game on similar grounds. Ndejje were also meant to play Nkumba Marines on September 11 but riots in Kampala meant the game was also called off.

“The fixture congestion may become a challenge for us,” coach Obedi said. “I just hope Fuba gives us not more than one game a week.”
