LIKE last year, Beau Vallon trail in the Men’s division one best-of-three playoff series. On Monday at Victoria Gymnasium, coach Valli Ismaël’s Heat went down 57-62 in game one against Men’s division two runners-up RA Herons.
Herons’ Kenny Moustache scored three consecutive treys in the fourth quarter to open up the game for his team as he finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
Ryan Volcère connected six times from downtown to finish with 23 points and, boasting a one-game lead, the Herons will go into tomorrow’s game two brimming with confidence.
After Heat’s centre Tony ‘General’ Barbé fouled out with only nine points, Pascal Bibi picked up the slack with a game-high 26 points in a lost cause.
Ninth finishers in the top flight this season, the Heat, who won the first and third quarters 12-11 and 21-18, dropped the second and fourth 14-20 and 10-13.
If the Heat tie the series in tomorrow’s game two, game three will be played on Saturday at 3pm at Victoria Gymnasium.
In last year’s playoff, the Heat trailed Anse Etoile in the series after going down 67-74 in game one, but they stayed alive by tying it at 1-1 with a 63-62 game-two win.
They then scorched Anse Etoile in the third match on a 64-59 score to continue playing with the big guns.
