21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women : Cote d’Ivoire lost to Angola 55-65

Antananarivo (21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women) – Angola Sunday end the winning streak of Cote d’Ivoire at the Palais Des Sports in Antananarivo , Madagascar .

The group-B pairing saw the Angolan taking early leads which earn them a 22-13 points win in the first quarter.

The Ivories tried all they had within their arsenal to out wit the Angola in the second quarter but the offensive could only yield 13 points apiece for both sides with Angola taking a 35-26 points advantage into the break.
The young Cote d’Ivoire side that humbled defending champion, Mali on Saturday took the third quarter by 13-10 points but could not sustain the tempo as the Angolan rallied back in the fourth quarter with a 20-16 points for a cumulative scores of 65-55.
Angola forward, Nassecela Mauricio led the floor with 22 points and 7 rebounds, Irene Guereiro added 16 points and 4 steals while Mariama Kouyate scored 16 points, 3 assists and 2 steal for Cote d’Ivoire .

Monday will be observed as rest day for all teams while hostility resume on Tuesday.
