Going 14 games unbeaten is quite a feat. That’s what A-1 Challenge’s report card reads going into today’s MTN-Fuba League fixture against Kampala City Council (KCC) Leopards.

A-1 Challenge, champions in 2005, have put on such a run without some of their best players and must be riding so high on confidence. But they come up against an equally confident side, which are ranked second in the 11-team table. Both sides look good and going by their first round clash, which A-1 Challenge nipped 68-66, supporters and neutrals alike should brace for an exciting encounter at YMCA Wandegeya tonight. KKC Leopards, with one loss to their name, warmed up for the game with a 149-17 hiding of Amazon Rhino on Wednesday night and are undoubtedly eager to inflict some revenge on A-1 Challenge.

Comprehensively beaten 53-89 by record champions Falcons on Wednesday night, Ndejje University Angels know they must bring their losing streak to a halt or else they forget about the play-offs. The Angels face fellow struggling university outfit UCU Canons in a game they must win to maintain hope of qualifying for the postseason.

Falcons, who have already consolidated themselves in third place, meanwhile, take on rejuvenated Kampala International University (KIU) in a game that could shape the latter’s destiny. Falcons will certainly be without Henry Malinga, who injured his knee in the victory against Ndejje, leaving the Sh72m signing Stephen Omony to shoulder much of the burden. Victory for KIU will move them to fourth position.
