NIGERIA : NBBF Sets up 3-Man LOC

LAGOS (FIBA Africa Championship for Women Zone-III Qualifiers) - The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is to set-up a 3-Man Local Organizing Committee, LOC to coordinate the affairs of the country hosting of the FIBA Africa Championship for Women Zone-III elimination billed for the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos from September 13 to 16 this year.

According to the President of the Nigeria basketball house, Tijjani Umar the LOC members will be unveil and given their schedule of work early next week in order to ensure that the country hosted a successful qualifiers.

Only host, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire are the two countries that have entered for the qualifiers involving senior women national teams of Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Niger Republic, Togo and Ghana where only the winner of the four-day qualifying series will make it to the final round of the 21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women slated for Antananarivo, Madagascar from October 8 through 18.

The NBBF President says the Nigeria national under the watchful eyes of coaches Ayodele Bakare, Scott Nnaji and Andrew Isokpehi are expected to begin preparation for the all important qualifiers on Monday.

Twelve home-based players will be joined by their foreign-based counterparts are to battle for a place in the final 12-man roster that will fly the country flag.
