Two years ago, UCU Canons under coach Jason Mehl went through the regular season of the MTN-FUBA National Basketball League unbeaten but that appears like a distant dream for a team languishing closer to the bottom in eighth of the 10-team log.

Since his departure in January, the Mukono-based University side has taken a relentless plunge. This season’s record of 11-3-8 is undesirable but they have a chance to improve that record when they clash with bottom-placed Knight Riders at YMCA court, Wandegeya this evening.

However, the newly promoted Riders might not be easy pushovers for UCU as the latter have blown cold in the final two quarters of the their last two defeats to Nkumba Marines and DMark Power.

“In those two defeats, we have shown bits of how well we can play especially in the first two quarters. Now we must carry the same throughout each game,” UCU’s star guard Ivan Enabu said after his 19-point haul was insufficient against Power.

Enabu will need help from Ken Roti and Adams Njoroge, back from a long injury lay-off, but both need considerable improvement after poor shows. In the women’s category , unbeaten leaders A-1 Challenge face newcomers Magic Stormers.
