Host of the 2009 edition of FIBA Africa Championship for U16 Men, Mozambique, Nigeria, Mali, Algeria begin their chase for the coveted trophy on winning note Friday in the opening day of the championship in Maputo, Mozambique.
Mozambique drawn in Group-A alongside, Mali, Egypt and South Africa defeated its FIBA Africa Zone-6 neighbour, South Africa by 54-50 points while Mali spanked Egypt by 71-59 points to top the group.
In group-B Nigeria humbled Angola by 57-50 points to set the tune for an ambition to conquer the rest of Africa just as Algeria trashed Central Africa Republic by 85-34 points.
Nigeria will on Saturday (Today) take on Guinea in her second group-B game while Central Africa Republic and Angola search for their first win when both sides take to the sports hall in Maputo in another group-B encounter
