Co-operative Bank will be out to harvest maximum points when they confront Lomboritz in one of the eight basketball league matches on the card at the Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium this weekend.

The bankers, who have 15 points from 10 outings start as favourities today against the lowly rated Lomboritz to boost their play-offs hopes.
Lomboritz led by Dennis Chutte, Melvin Oketch and Rogers Magati, have only won two matches this season and will need a miracle to upset the experienced bankers.
Co-op lost 70-65 to Strathmore in their last league assignment and coach Carey “T9’’ Oketch will give today’s tie the seriousness it deserves
Towering Richard Osano is expected to team up with Moses Kamau, Ben Mufutu and Abel Kimondo to score baskets for the bankers.

Made a mark

In the women’s category, Eagle Wings, who have only dropped one point, will take on Kenya College of Accountancy University.

The students have made a mark in the competition despite taking part for the first time and are top contenders for the play-offs.

They rocked Sprite Storms 56-40 last weekend.

Monica Odhiambo and Sylvia Omulo have all matured and now capable of ending Eagle Wings unbeaten record.
But coach Thomas “Smarts’’ Olumbo of Eagle Wings enjoys long experience with internationally well exposed players.
They are Caroline ‘Majeng’’ Achieng, Rebecca Sarange and Eunice Ouma, who are capable to overcome any pressure to keep their scoresheet clean.
KCA lie second on the table with 17 points and a win will see them snatch the league leadership for the first time.

In the men’s Division one league, Parklands Baptist will face African Nazarene University at 10am while Steve Mc’odongo will lead Mennonites against Nairobi Pentecostal Church at 12pm.

On Sunday, Eastern Queens are expected to heavily punish Sprite Storms to maintain the top spot on the women’s league standings with unbeaten record.
Queens demolished champions Kenya Ports Authority 68-45 and their stars Hilda Indasi, Emma Nyakweba and Irene Makori will have nothing to stop them from causing havoc to grab two vital points.
