Today at YMCA
Riders v UCU (7.30pm)
KCC v KIU (5.30pm)
UCU Canons will walk onto YMCA court, Wandegeya this evening for their MTN-Fuba League game against Knight Riders with a huge statement to make. A dismal showing at the Fiba Africa Zone V Club Championships in Bujumbura, Burundi, must have left a few souls shaken within UCU though Ivan Enabu differs.
“Before we left, we had to be realistic as this was only a learning experience. We hadn’t even prepared for it well and only stepped in (as a replacement for cash-strapped DMark Power),” Enabu said in defence.

The UCU skipper believes their confidence was not shattered but they should have at least won one of their four group games. “From now, we can play together as a unit unlike when a player chases 60 points on his own. Handling crunch time has also improved,” the point guard added.
Big-man Sam Rukaire is struggling to make the game due to illness. In Riders, who beat Berkley 68-56 on Sunday, comes an opponent with the same style as the play-off hopefuls.
“They (Riders) play very good running basketball and it’s important that we handle that well,” UCU start Enabu cautioned.
Rogers Odiama, Ivan Mutabazi and Edward Kabanda hold the key to Riders’ chances of avoiding the drop. Elsewhere, mid-table strugglers KIU Titans face relegation-threatened KCC Lions in the early game.
