Co-operative Bank of Kenya shot to the top of the premier league when they dismissed Blazers 91-61 at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
The former five time national champions started off slowly tying 17-17 at the end of the first quarter before picking up in the second, during which they opened up a seven point gap bringing the scores to 42-35. The scoring in the third quarter matched that of the second as Co-op posted 25 points to Blazers' 18. Comfortable after three, they nevertheless produced a fourth quarter charge, outscoring their opponents 24-10 for a comfortable 30 point win.
Co-op, who now have 23 league points, had Eugene Genga nailing 20 points, while Peter Kiganya added 13. On the losing side, Joel Atebe netted a game high 28 while John Gicharu added 13.
The defeat to Co-op rounded off a miserable weekend for the Blazers, whose rough weekend began with a 65-80 defeat to United States International University (USIU). Evans Letting led the students with 28 points while Arou Chan made 25. Blazers Atebe poured in 18 while Gicharu shot 15.
