Although, the Nigerian U-18 Basketball team lost the final of 2010 FIBA-Africa junior tournament by a narrow margin of 62-63 points to Egypt in Cairo Saturday, but they qualified for the Chile 2011 U-19 Women World Championship.
Nigeria’s coach, Adewumi Aderemi told P.M.Sports online after the encounter, that the girls made the country proud and have a reason to return home as heroines.
The girls held their heads high, dominating the game from the first quater through the fourth before they bowed to the Egyptians who the trophy with just a point.
Coach Aderemi described the championship, where the Nigerian team did not lose any match until the final, as very challenging for them.
The team, according to coach Aderemi, worked hard to qualify for the U-19 Women championship slated for 21-31 August next year.
