The Federation of International Basketball Associations, FIBA has approved a sixty thousand United States Dollars grant for Liberia.
FIBA Africa decision came at the climax at its 15th congress held in Bamako, Mali.According to the Secretary General of the Liberia Basketball Federation, the grant will go towards the preparations of the U-18 and U-16 national teams.
Mr. Fred Pratt further told reporters the country was re-voted as chairman of the Women and Youth Committee at the congress.
Mr. Pratt disclosed Liberia was also given the right to host the 2010 Club Championship to be held in October of this year.
Many analysts believe all these gestures being put forward by FIBA Africa are signals that the country is gradually climbing the ladder.
