MARTIN Okwako will play his first game of the season when the Kyambogo Warriors take on the UCU Canons in today’s highly-anticipated MTN-FUBA men’s division 1 clash at YMCA, Wandegeya.
The solid forward has only just returned from Kenya due to some family problems that had prevented him from being part of Kyambogo’s steady start to the season. The Warriors have won six and lost one without Okwako.
With him, they will be hoping to extend their winning run to seven even though they will be without star guard Ronnie Kasewu, who is injured.
However, coach Gad Eteu is not ready to predict whether his side will end UCU’s unbeaten start to the season.
“We’ll see about that,” said Eteu with typical caution. “I think it will be a close game.”
The Canons have won all five of their matches this season, including their opening 91-87 shock win over D’Mark Power in late April. Canons captain Ivan Enabu similarly believes it will be a tight contest. “The team that makes fewer mistakes will win,” he said.
