SEYCHELLES : National League - Stars set the pace

ANSE ETOILE STARS look good to reclaim the women’s league title after Sunday’s third win on the trot at the Palais des Sports to set the pace.

Although captain and centre Simone Malbrook got two treys for six of her 11 points, it was lively shooting guard Jennifer Bonne who led the Stars in scoring with 15 points in their 51-35 win over a Mont Fleuri side who were slack in defence.
Playmaker Lindy Mathiot made a 10-point contribution to the victory as the Stars now await defending champions HotShots on Sunday June 20.
Veteran Williana Dubois had the hot hands for Mont Fleuri with 11 points despite spraining a finger.
Mont Fleuri looked like getting another win against title contenders as they led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, but the Stars reversed the situation, winning the second 17-8 to go for the breather with a seven-point lead (26-19)
They outscored coach Tony Juliette’s Mont Fleuri 16-5 in the third 10-minute spell, and even though they lost the fourth 9-11, they had done enough to claim their third victory in as many games for a maximum six points.
This was Mont Fleuri’s first loss in four games and they still lead the standings with seven points.

In the men’s division one league, Baya put the 61-66 loss to leaders Premium Cobras behind them to reach the century mark against strugglers RA Herons with a 105-43 win.
This is their sixth victory in seven games, while coach Grégoire Scholastique’s RA Herons are winless in seven outings.
Mont Fleuri Dawgz collected their third win in seven games on Sunday evening when they dispatched RC Dynamics 69-43.

RC Dynamics had beaten RA Herons 76-53 during the course of last week and, like the Dawgz, they have three wins and four defeats in the two-round championship.

Cascade Bullets also boast the same win-lose record as Mont Fleuri Dawgz and RC Dynamics following their 65-36 win over last year’s second division winners Razors, who are finding the going tough in the top flight with seven defeats to their name in as many games played.

Meanwhile, in the men’s second division, Drifters are setting the pace and have gone six games unbeaten. Their latest victims were AAP Brothers on a 68-55 score. They had also beaten Beau Vallon Heat 73-56 in their previous match.
Falcons won 80-57 against Praslin Warriors.
