KADUNA (DStv Premier League) - The fortune of Yelwa Hawks basketball club of Bauchi continued to improve on Tuesday as they earned a well-deserved away win in Kaduna with a 59-56 points victory over Tapgun Rockets at the sports hall of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
The side coached by Oche Omuh, who recorded her first win of the season last weekend against Plateau Peaks, brought their Savannah Conference record to 2-3.
The Yelwa Hawks’ club secretary, Adenike Carew believes her team still stands a chance of making it to the final-8 playoffs set to get underway in the first week of September.
Carew attributes the team's optimism to the new-found spirit in camp. She praised club president, Honourable Tanko Dutse for providing the necessary tools to motivate the players to give their best.
She described the away win to Tapgun Rockets as one of the best results to date.
"We are back in the race for a place in the final-8 playoffs, as we are set to fight for one of the four slots from the Savannah conference.
"I think the live coverage of our home game against Plateau Peaks two weeks ago coupled with the new spirit exhibited by the players are responsible for the turning in fortunes.
"We also have our president, Honourable Tanko Dutse to thank for providing us an environment enabling us to strive for success and nothing can stop that marching on."
