MTN-FUBA League
Tomorrow at YMCA
Women: A1 v UCU
Men div 1
Falcons v Marines
UCU v Warriors
A lot will be riding on tomorrow’s MTN-FUBA Ladies League clash between A1 Challenge and the UCU Canons.
First and foremost, the unofficial title of the best team in the league will be up for grabs because A1 and UCU are the only unbeaten sides so far.
Furthermore, both have beaten their two major rivals – the KCC Leopards and KIU Rangers – which means that whoever wins tomorrow, will be guaranteed of going through the first round unbeaten.
Both A1 captain Gloria Kyomugisha and her Canons counterpart Frances Nabulobi agree that the need to protect the perfect record makes this match special.
“This game is important because it will determine who goes top,” said Kyomugisha, echoing Nabulobi’s view that her team are eager “to stay top”.
Kyomugisha believes there is little to separate between the two teams who contested the 2008 play-off finals with her team coming off second best. However, she predicted the game will be on “the boards” and by the better “bench”.
Unsurprisingly, the 2005 MVP believes her team will be superior on both counts because A1 “have the deeper bench and the bigger team”.
Not to be outdone, Nabulobi has no doubt the Canons are the best in the league.
“I can say we are the best team and determined to win,” Nabulobi said.
