Victories over Kyambogo Warriors and Mountain Dew Falcons have made DMark Power the team to beat in the MTN-Fuba League as the first round nears its climax.

Barring the loss to UCU Canons, Power have had a near perfect start. Today at YMCA court, Wandegeya, Power have an opportunity to wrap their first round with aplomb against Miracle Eagles.

The game comes on the back of impressive outings last week as Power and Miracle edged Falcons (74-72) and KIU (63-58) respectively. The usual guile of on-song Joseph Ikong, Norman Blick and Ben Komaketch plus the rare steel brought in by Robert Mubiru and David Kiberu has propelled to the summit with 17 points.

Coach Brian Rygyendo’s Miracle, fourth with 14 points, often ride on getting physical in defence and fast breaks. “Players must learn to take their chances because they are not that many in big games,” Rugyendo said.

Elsewhere, Ndejje University face KIU Titans whereas the latter’s women’s side clash with defending champions KCC Leopards. On Wednesday, University side UCU Canons overcame a few jitters to stretch their winning streak to eight games with a 69-63 victory over Knight Riders.

Bit-part guard Steven Mwesigye sunk a team-high 16 points while Sam Rukaire and Ivan Enabu sneaked into double figures with 10 apiece.

Under dim light, Mountain Dew Falcons comfortably resumed normal service with a 110-50 annihilation of newly-promoted Berkley.
