UGANDA : Mid-table sides seek magic wand

Kampala

Today at YMCA
St. Michael v UCU (8.30pm)
KIU v Miracle (5.30pm)
Women
Lady Bucks v UCU (7pm)

Four wins from their opening eight games of the MTN-Fuba League have left KIU Titans and Miracle Eagles with 12 points, just outside the play-off positions. Much as they have the same number of points as UCU Canons, who occupy the fourth and final play-off position, there is little comfort for fifth-placed KIU and Miracle, one place lower.

The latter two clash at YMCA court, Wandegeya this evening with winner earning the right to breath down Canons’ neck. In recognising KIU’s defensive attributes, Miracle coach Brian Rugyendo cautioned his side to avoid wastefulness.

“Players must take their chances because they are not that many against KIU,” Rugyendo, who is without Albert Aciku and Caesre Kizito as the pair suffer from illness, said.
Nimrod Kaboha’s KIU side have so far failed to convert brilliant starts to games as they have the knack to fade.

Meanwhile, on-form UCU who beat Kyambogo Warriors 91-79 last week have a chance to stretch their winning sequence when they face St. Michael.
