Former national champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) teams posted big wins at the Makande Welfare Hall, Mombasa over the weekend but KCB Lions still top the premier league standings.
Trailing 36-35 at the break, KPA men put on an inspiring second-half performance to eventually dismiss Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University 72-52. KPA's women meanwhile hammered their KCA counterparts 111-16. The victors took control early and led 63-6 at the intermission.
Meanwhile, national champions KCB Lions, gunning for their fourth title in a row, top the men's Premier League table with a maximum of eight points from four matches as the race intensifies.
Lions are the only unbeaten team so far this year. They are followed by Posta, who succumbed 50-44 to Co-operative Bank of Kenya a fortnight ago. Both teams have seven points and boast a 3-1 record through four games.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Yana - who benefited immensely from the fallout of Eastern Queens - top the table with seven points, having won three out of their four games. Reigning champions Eagle Wings are unbeaten and have six points, as do KPA following their defeat of KCA.
In other men's games, International Christian Centre (ICC) stopped Strathmore University 68-60, Co-op thrashed Lomboritz 74-31 while United States International University (USIU) beat University of Nairobi 80-53.
In other women's games, Sprite Storms surged forward with a 55-39 triumph over USIU Flames and Predators beat Kenya Polytechnic University 44-35 in a clash of the newly-promoted.
