ANGOLA : Luanda hosts training of FIBA referees

About ten Angolan referees are candidates to the international basketball refereeing course, promoted by the sports federation (FIBA), which started Friday in Luanda, at 9 am at the premises of the federation.

According to a press release that ANGOP had access to, besides the ten Angolans, 12 foreign referees from countries like Seychelles, Burundi, Lebanon, Tanzania, Kenia, Mauritius, Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo will also participate in the training action.

The training action will be led by the sports director of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Lobomir Kotleba, and Angolan instructor Nelson Soares de Campos.

The training action aims at improving the quality of referees in the country and increasing the number of international umpires and FIBA referees in Angola.

Currently, Angola has three international referees, namely Domingos Simão, Fernando Pacheco and Carlos Júlio.
