Faraja Mlaki scored 25 points to help Jeshi Stars drub Police Dar es Salaam 98-32 in the National Basketball League game held at the National Indoor Stadium yesterday.Jeshi Stars, who vowed to clinch the trophy before the league got underway, put in sterling performances to lead 50-17 until the interval.
Malaki posed a constant menace to Police shot blockers and emerged the top scorer for her side followed by teammate Lucy Augustino who bagged 16 points.
Neema Emanuel and Anna Paulo fought relentlessly to save their team from humiliation, but their efforts and points could not help matters.
Emmanuel was the highest scorer for Police after notching 14 points followed by Paulo who chalked 10 points.
In men’s category, Spurs of Dodoma slumped to a 56-43 defeat at the hands of Young Warriors of Morogoro.
Until the breather, the Young Warriors were leading 32-26. The Morogoro lads continued to stretch their cushion in the third and fourth quarters to seal their deserved victory.
Young Warriors points were scored by Shasaria Mwiki (23) and Abraham Ngatingwa who notched eight.
Spurs’ Ashraf Collins hit 17 points while his teammate Allen Lumuge scored eight.In another match, Mzinga of Morogoro took on Kilimanjaro’s Baptists and the former posted a 56-42 win.
The teams that are battling it out for the prestigious men’s national title are Spurs, Mzinga, Young Warriors, ABC, Oilers, Savio and the defending champions, JKT.
