ASABA (NBBF/Zenith Bank WPL) - First Deepwater surrendered the top spot in the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) organised Zenith Bank Women Premier League to First Bank after losing to the defending champions 68-62. It was only First Deepwater's second defeat of the season and it dropped them to second place in the standings. First Bank and Sunshine Angels of Akure, respectively ranked first and third in the table, also have two losses each.
In other games, Nigeria Immigration of Kano edged out FCT Angels of Abuja 56-50, while Sunshine Angels outclassed Delta Force 67-52 and Dolphin crushed Plateau Rocks 80-37.
The second phase of the WPL ends on Wednesday. First Bank face AHIP Queens of Kano, followed by Sunshine Angels doing battle with Plateau Rocks before Nigeria Immigration go up against Delta Force and Dolphins will close the day's play against First Deepwater.
