By Ernest Ndunda

Kenya’s women’s basketball national coach Philip Onyango has landed a one-month training at Oklahoma University, US.

Oklahoma is one of America’s universities known to honour sportspeople who have excelled in their countries through scholarships.

The delighted coach said the training would give him an opportunity to monitor the performance of over 15 Kenyan women basketballers on scholarship in Oklahoma, Union, Texas and Wayland Universities. Onyango, who is also the coach of the reigning East and Central Africa Secondary Schools girl’s basketball queens, Shimba Hills of Kwale, Coast Province said he has been mandated by the Kenya Basketball Federation to scout for players for next year’s All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.

"Kenya has landed an automatic qualification for the Maputo games and we need to have a strong team for the games", said Onyango.
