The fight against relegation from the MTN-Fuba League is bound to be as interesting as the rush for the four playoff slots. Raising the relegation quota from two to four following a stay of execution for UCU Canons and KCC Lions surely elevated the stakes.

As UCU, third with 21 points, look destined for the postseason, KCC, who face winless Berkley at YMCA court, Wandegeya today, find themselves in familiar yet undesirable territory.

KCC (14) are third from bottom, the same tally as St. Michael ahead of the latter’s clash with Ndejje University Angels (15) in the late game. In addition to Knight Riders (14), all four will treat each of their remaining 11 fixtures as a Cup Final of sorts.

Andrew Okot and Daniel Owiti must continue to stand tall for St. Michael against the onslaught of coach Walker Obedi’s Ndejje. The latter seem to be suffering from the proverbial second season which must provoke Cyrus Kiviri, Crispin Biko and Donald Ssali to bear more responsibility to avoid the drop. For Berkley, their maiden season in division one has offered more despair than lessons.
