APR will approach today’s league tie with Espoir in top confidence after Thursday’s 80-56 victory over surprise package Kigali Basketball Club (KBC).

Prior to Thursday, the reigning champions had struggled to find their feet after a run of three wins and two defeats but APR coach Cliff Owuor reckons that the win rejuvenated the side.

“It was a timely win for us. We needed to win but winning against KBC made it more enjoyable for us,” the former Kenyan international noted.

Like APR, Espoir don’t have much to brag about their season after a run of two wins and three defeats. Owour will turn to his in-form center Viateur Vuguziga, whose man of the match display against KBC spurred the indomitable lions to their fourth win of the season.
“We can’t afford to lose another game so we have to play a hard line game; just the way we played against KBC,” Owuor added.

With 10 points, APR is now a point adrift of KBC who have only lost one of their opening six games.

Prior to the APR-Espoir showdown at Amahoro indoor stadium, UGB clash with CSK, Ferwaba take on National University of Rwanda (UNR) while KIE will be plotting for their first win of the season when they entertain Rusizi.

The women league also throws off this weekend at Primature, Kimihurura when reigning champions APR entertain UNR, KIE face ISAE while Karubanda clash with St. Joseph.
